3 days countdown

Three days until the great journey begins and all hell's loose.
All the things you remember last minute that are essential and have to be squeezed in somewhere....dear me...I can certainly recommend to make a few lists with clothing, household items, important paperwork... It minimises the last minute surprises...but minimised doesn't mean the few ones left are small...unfortunately.
For everyone coming from afar: Plan your journeys home for Christmas NOW. Plan all your journeys as early as possible, and get a set of scales whereupon you can weigh your luggage, before you have to pay a lot of money at the airport...just a tip. I am dependent on a few airports, those being Birmingham Int. and Stansted in Great Britain and Friedrichshafen, Frankfurt Hahn and Stuttgart in Germany. This makes journey planning especially difficult as you don't have that many options. Who would've thought that reaching Stansted Airport in the early morning is a thing near impossibility?
Things one tends to forget:
coat hangers - so simple, small and seemingly impossible to pack
alarm clock (if you need one) - because it usually sits beside your bed...likely to be forgotten there, same goes for glasses
stuff for cleaning shoes - it's likely to live in a cupboard or the cellar, out of sight until it's too late
pillow and blanket - it's so obvious, it's dangerous

That's just a few that popped into mind, let me know what else it is you always forget...

Drei Tage bis zur großen Reise und hier ist die Hölle los.
All die vielen Sachen, die einem in letzter Minute einfallen und auf Teufel komm raus noch irgendwo reingequetscht werden müssen...meine Güte...Ich kann nur empfehlen, Listen zu machen. Eine für Kleider, eine für Haushaltssachen, eine für wichtige Papiere...es minimiert die Gefahr von lastminute Überraschungen...was leider nicht heißt, dass diese dann klein sind.
Für alle von weit weg: Die Weihnachtsheimreise JETZT planen. Generell sollte man alle seine Fahrten so rüh wie möglich planen und zudem eine Waage besitzen, sodass man sein Gepäck wiegen kann, bevor man Strafe am Flughafen zahlen muss, das nur als Tip. Ich bin von einigen wenigen Flughäfen abhängig, nämlich Birmingham Int. und Stansted in Großbritannien und Friedrichshafen, Frankfurt Hahn und Stuttgart in Deutschland. Dementsprechend wenige Optionen habe ich bei meiner Reiseplanung, was das Ganze erheblich erschwert. Wer hätte gedacht, dass es nahezu unmöglich ist, Stansted am frühen Morgen zu erreichen?

Der nächste Post ist dann wahrscheinlich schon von Großbritannien aus...^^
